Can CryoPen be sterilised?

CryoPen does not normally require sterilisation because, when used correctly, the device does not come into contact with the client’s skin or lesion.
If the applicator accidentally comes into contact with the client, it can be cleaned, disinfected and autoclaved in accordance with the manufacturer’s instructions:
- 134°C for 4 minutes, or
- 121°C for 20 minutes.
The main CryoPen instrument must not be immersed in disinfecting liquids, as this may damage the internal switches. External surfaces can be wiped with a non-corrosive disinfecting solution. Please note, never clean the thread of frontend and backend. The existing coating should be protected. If the lubricant is wiped off, that creates friction which affects the piercing of the cartridge.
Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions and the disinfectant manufacturer’s recommended concentration and contact time.
